Our Journey: From Hut to Hope

World Overcomer Christian Church, Inc. (WOCCI) traces its beginnings to the early 1980s, when a small group of devoted believers began gathering for worship and fellowship in a modest home in Brgy. Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City. What started as a simple house church gradually grew into a vibrant community of faith, guided by passionate individuals committed to serving God. Over time, the fellowship was shaped by dedicated leaders who helped strengthen its foundation and expand its reach. Despite facing early challenges such as limited resources and the absence of a permanent place of worship, the church remained steadfast in its mission and continued to flourish through the years.

As the ministry continued to grow, the church was graciously allowed to use a piece of land in Pinagbuhatan, freely lent by a generous believer. On this borrowed property, a small and humble structure made of light materials was built to serve as a temporary place of worship. Despite its simplicity, it became a sacred gathering place for believers, marked by unity, faith, and devotion. This modest beginning was a powerful testament to the congregation’s perseverance and collective dedication. Through time and shared effort, the structure was gradually improved, reflecting not only physical development but also the deepening spiritual life of the church.

In 2019, the landowner needed to reclaim the property, and the church was faced with the daunting challenge of finding a new place to worship. The sudden loss of the location forced the church to hold services at the entrance of Pinagbuhatan High School. Despite these obstacles, the faith and determination of the congregation remained unshaken.

In 2020, as the world grappled with the COVID-19 pandemic, WOCCI faced another significant challenge. The pandemic made it impossible to hold in-person gatherings, and the temporary location where the church’s equipment was stored became a vital asset. To adapt to the new reality, the church embraced online services, using this interim space to broadcast Sunday services and maintain a connection with its members. This shift to digital worship was a testament to the church’s resilience and commitment to its mission, even amidst unprecedented circumstances.

Responding to the ongoing need for a stable and permanent home, the church decided to purchase a new piece of land a little farther from its original location, in Taytay City. Although financial difficulties have slowed the construction of the new building, the church continues to persevere. The new rented temporary location allows WOCCI to keep its mission alive and serve the community while the dream of a new, permanent home is realized.

The story of WOCCI is one of faith, perseverance, and community spirit. From its humble beginnings in a rented hut to navigating the challenges of a pandemic and transitioning to a new location, the church’s journey reflects the power of collective belief and the unwavering commitment to advancing God’s Kingdom. As we continue to build and grow, we remain dedicated to fostering a community of faith, love, and transformation, trusting that God will guide and provide for every step of our journey.
